Calgary Stampede Bus Tour
Monday, July 11 This morning we will board our deluxe motorcoach in anticipation of a sensational week of touring some of North America’s most spectacular scenery. We’ll head north through the Gem State of Idaho with a stop for lunch near the banks of the Snake River in Idaho Falls, and then travel on to the “Big Sky Country” of Montana. We’ll get checked into our pleasing accommodations in Butte, Montana followed by a delicious welcome dinner (dinner included).
Tuesday, July 12 We have packed this day with fun and an explosion of beautiful scenery. Along our way we’ll travel through picturesque Flathead Valley on the eastern shores of Flathead Lake (which happens to be the largest fresh water lake west of the Mississippi). You are in for a treat this afternoon as we visit the mountain town of Bigfork. We’ll have the great opportunity to wander around this beautiful lakeside hamlet and enjoy the shops and galleries. Accommodations this evening are at the Grouse Mountain Lodge in Whitefish, Montana, just outside of Glacier National Park. A wonderful and memorable dinner is planned tonight for the group at the lodge. (breakfast and dinner included)
Wednesday, July 13 Just a short drive from our hotel will be our first visit – the postcard perfect Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. It is here that we will board the beautifully restored touring vehicles for our trip on the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road. After crossing 6,664 foot high Logan Pass, we will enter an unspoiled domain of alpine scenery and stop for lunch.
At the end of our Going-to-the-Sun excursion we will delight in our overnight accommodations at the East Glacier Lodge. This stunning mountain lodge was built in 1913 by the Great Northern Railway and is still impressing its guests with its fabulous scenery, great hospitality, and relaxing mountain setting. We are confident that you’ll enjoy your visit here at East Glacier Lodge. A magnificent dinner is planned for your enjoyment here at the lodge. (breakfast, lunch and dinner included)
Thursday, July 14 Majestic, awe-inspiring, breathtaking, magnificent – the Canadian Rockies deserve every accolade they have ever inspired. We will get to experience the Rockies on both sides of the US / Canadian border. We will cross the US / Canadian border and visit the postcard perfect lakeside township of Waterton. Here we will visit Cameron Falls, the historic Prince of Wales Hotel and enjoy a two-hour scenic boat ride on Waterton Lake, crossing the international border. Be sure to have your camera ready as this one of western Canada’s most photographed areas. We’ll then continue traveling north, making a brief stop in Cardston.
Then it’s on to Calgary! Once considered a cow town, Calgary is now a very modern and sophisticated city. It was home to the 1988 Winter Olympics and is home to the World Famous Calgary Stampede! Relax and settle in because the next three nights will be spent in Calgary, Canada’s friendliest city. Accommodations will be at the Marriott/Delta hotel. (breakfast and lunch included)
Friday, July 15 Pack your camera for today’s excursion to Banff National Park. We’ll make a photo stop at picturesque Moraine Lake before our stop at Lake Louise. The beautiful green-blue waters of Lake Louise form a perfect mirror reflection of Mount Victoria and its glacier. You’ll have time to take a brief stroll along the shores before we make our way to a nice luncheon at Lake Louise Station Restaurant. Later this afternoon it is off to Banff, Canada’s favorite year-round resort town. Here in Banff you will have free time to mosey around town and visit the colorful streets as you visit the great boutiques and galleries Banff is known for. (breakfast and luncheon included).
Saturday, July 16 Today we are in for some wild-west excitement as we step through the gates of Stampede park. Early this afternoon we’ll watch the best of the best saddle up for a ground-shaking showcase of world-class rodeo action. Our reserved grandstand seats (in the shade) will be great for viewing the $750,000 rodeo.
We will watch the pages of western history come alive right before our eyes as we experience the heart-stopping Chuckwagon Races, which have been described as the “Greatest Show on Earth.” But this is only the start of a sensational Stampede evening. We’ll also get to see a 90-minute outdoor stage show featuring hundreds of dancers, singers, and musicians whom will dazzle us in the gigantic production. A spectacular fireworks finale will be the ending of this memorable day. (breakfast included)
Sunday, July 17th Today we say farewell to Calgary and begin our travel Southbound. Just sit back and watch the magnificent landscape unfold as we head south to Helena, Montana. Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, Helena is known as one of our country’s most gorgeous capital cities. (breakfast included)
Monday, July 18th Our tour starts to wind down as we leave Montana and head for home with wonderful memories of this beautiful mountainous region. (breakfast included)
