Friday, February 10th Your day will begin with a lovely drive to Pearl Harbor where you will have a visit to the USS Arizona Museum. This is a moving tribute to the military personnel who lost their lives in the 1941 attack that launched the U.S. into World War II. Afterwards we will report to the Honolulu Airport for our short, afternoon flight to Maui. Upon arrival our private chartered transportation will take us to the postcard perfect Ka’anapali Beach Resort. This resort is perfectly situated on Maui’s world-famous Ka’anapali Beach across 11 acres of stunning tropical gardens. This oceanfront hotel is the ideal place for our group to unwind in paradise. Recognized as “Hawaii’s Most Hawaiian Hotel,” this resort hotel offers authentic local hospitality and daily cultural classes, including hula, ‘ukulele and local language lessons, plus beautiful and informative garden walks and free nightly shows. (breakfast included today)
Saturday, February 11th Another day in paradise! Today you might want to explore the old whaling village of Lahaina with its trendy art galleries, nice restaurants and historical buildings on the waterfront dating back to the old whaling days. Lahaina is just a few miles from the hotel, and a $5.00 shuttle fee will get you there and back. Whatever you do today on Maui – it will be spectacular. An optional all-day excursion* is planned where you can experience the ‘Road to Hana.’ This optional tour shows you the enchanting side of Maui, taking you along the gorgeous, winding coastal road while your guide adds more color to the scenery with interesting stories and lively narration. The road to Hana is an unforgettable, multi-sensory experience with over 600 curves and 54 bridges along the way. This is truly taking a trip back in time to the old Hawaii, where life moves at a slower pace. You’ll see a beautiful black-sand beach where the Hawaiian sea turtles congregate, rainforests, waterfalls and canyons of bamboo. This tour is indeed an adventure – and one you’ll remember for a lifetime. *More details and cost for the Hana day tour will be available in July.
Sunday, February 12th Wake up to the sound of the ocean. Take a walk on the beach, enjoy a Sunday worship service, rent a car for the day and discover other parts of the island, or just hang out and enjoy the beach. It’s your day and your tropical vacation. A short stroll down the beach boardwalk will take you to Whaler’s Village, where you can immerse yourself in local history and culture at the whaling museum or art galleries. Prefer immersion of the retail variety? Whaler’s village has got you covered with a variety of local stores and designer boutiques, as well as a variety of great restaurants.
Monday, February 13th The channel between Maui and Molokai is very active during this time of the year as the famous humpback whales migrate here to give birth and play in the warm tropical waters. It is very common to just sit on the beach and watch a display of action as the whales breach out of the water throughout the day. This is a sight to behold. However, we are in for more action today because, included in your vacation is a 2-hour whale watching boat excursion where we’ll get an up-close look at these friendly giants of the sea.
Tuesday, February 14th Maui has a slogan “Maui no ka oi,” which translates “Maui is the best.” You’ll discover for yourself that Maui really is the best. Relax – you’re on island time. You may wish to chart your own course through Maui’s wonderlands. Activities abound and your Tour Director is on hand to help you plan your day. Spend some time on the white-sand beach, or perhaps you’ll want to play a round of golf at one of the many spectacular golf courses. From hula lessons to lei making to reading your novel on your hotel room balcony – it’s your vacation and you get to do it your way. Enjoy!
Wednesday, February 15th Midday we will say, ‘hui hou’ (until we meet again) to the Ka’anapali Beach Hotel.
