Tour Itinerary
Monday, July 7th – This morning we’ll head north and travel through the Gem State of Idaho, with a stop for lunch near the banks of the Snake River in Idaho Falls, and then travel on to the “Big Sky Country” of Montana. You’ll be fascinated with the history of Lewis & Clark along the way, as well as the interesting history of our host city tonight, Butte, Montana. We’ll get checked into our pleasing accommodations followed by a delicious welcome dinner. (Dinner included)
Tuesday, July 8th – We have packed this day with fun and an explosion of beautiful scenery. Along our way we’ll travel through picturesque Flathead Valley on the eastern shores of Flathead Lake (which happens to be the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi). You are in for a treat this afternoon as we visit the mountain town of Bigfork. We’ll have the great opportunity to wander around this beautiful lakesde hamlet and enjoy the shops and galleries. Accommodations this evening will be at the Hilton Garden Inn in beautiful Kalispell, Montana and gateway to Glacier National Park. A wonderful and memorable dinner is planned this evening. (breakfast and dinner included)
Wednesday, July 9th – Just a short drive from our hotel will be our first stop for the day – the postcard perfect Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. It is here that we will board the beautifully restored touring vehicles for our trip on the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road, which is widely acclaimed as one of the outstanding scenic roadways of the world. After crossing 6,664-foot-high Logan Pass, we’ll enter an unspoiled domain of alpine scenery and stop for lunch. We will meet up with our motorcoach at St. Mary’s Lake and cross the border into Canada and head to the sleepy lakeside village of Waterton, which is nestled in the mountains of southern Alberta, Canada. Waterton Lakes National Park borders Glacier National Park in Montana to form the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park. You’ll love the lakeside setting and comfortable accommodations for the night where you will have the evening free to soak up the beauty of this glorious location. (continental breakfast and lunch included)
Thursday, July 10th – Majestic, awe-inspiring, breathtaking, magnificent – the Canadian Rockies deserve every accolade they have ever inspired. Here in Waterton we will visit Cameron Falls, followed by a scenic two-hour boat ride on Waterton Lake, crossing the international border. Have your cameras ready because this is one of western Canada’s most photographed areas. We will also visit the Prince of Wales Hotel for a photo stop.
This afternoon we will travel north, making a brief stop in Cardston to view the Cardston Temple, which was built in 1923. Then it’s Welcome to Calgary! Once considered a cow town, Calgary is now a very modern and sophisticated city. It was home to the 1988 Winter Olympics and is home to the World-Famous Calgary Stampede! Relax and settle in because the next three nights will be spent in Calgary, Canada’s friendliest city. (Breakfast & Lunch)
Friday, July 11th – Pack your camera for today’s excursion to Banff National Park. We’ll make a photo-stop at picturesque Moraine Lake before our stop at Lake Louise. The beautiful green-blue waters of Lake Louise form a perfect mirror reflection of Mount Victoria and its glacier. You’ll have time to take a brief stroll along the shores before we make our way to a grand luncheon at Lake Louise Station Restaurant.
Later this afternoon it is off to Banff, Canada’s favorite year-round resort town. Here in Banff, you will have free time to mosey around town and visit the colorful streets as you visit the great boutiques and galleries Banff is known for. (Breakfast & Luncheon included)
Saturday, July 12th – Late this morning we’re in for some wild-west excitement as we step through the gates of Stampede Park. Early this afternoon we’ll watch the best of the best saddle up for a ground-shaking showcase of world-class rodeo action. Our reserved grandstand seats (in the shade) will be great for viewing the $750,000 Rodeo.
This evening we will watch the pages of western history come alive right before our eyes as we experience the heart-stopping Chuckwagon Races, which have been described as the “Greatest Show on Earth.” But this is only the start of a sensational Stampede evening. We’ll also get to see a 90-minute outdoor stage show featuring hundreds of dancers, singers, and musicians whom will dazzle us in the gigantic production. A spectacular fireworks finale will be the ending of this memorable day. (Breakfast included)
Sunday, July 13th Another Great Day in the mountains! Today we say farewell to Calgary and begin our travel southbound. Just sit back and watch the magnificent landscape unfold as we head south to Helena, Montana. Part of our route today will be in Lewis and Clark territory as we follow the route of the Missouri River. Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, Helena is known as one of our country’s most gorgeous capital cities. (Breakfast included)
Monday, July 15th– Today we say goodbye to Montana and head South for Utah with wonderful memories of this beautiful mountainous region. (Breakfast included)
