Comfortable accommodations await you at the Sheraton Times Square hotel which is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan. The Sheraton is conveniently located on Seventh Avenue near Carnegie Hall, fashionable Fifth Avenue and Central Park. Other attractions that are just a few blocks away include Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square and Broadway Theaters. This tour is filled with many great sights of the city such as: Columbia University, Central Park, Manhattan LDS Temple, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Harlem, Apollo Theater, Museum Mile, Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. We will stop on Fifth Avenue where you will have time to enjoy lunch, visit the sights at Rockefeller Center and go inside St. Patrick’s Cathedral. New York City promises and delivers the world’s top entertainment , and to night we’ll e treated to a grand Broadway production. A final decision will be made on May 15th to select the Broadway production for the group (a major musical performance with orchestra seating). Private motor-coach transportation will be provided from the hotel to the theater and return.
Wednesday, October 24th – How do you get to Carnegie Hall? The answer is: practice, practice, practice. But this morning we can get to Carnegie Hall by taking a short walk (3 blocks). We will delight in a back stage tour of the magnificent Concert Hall. You have the afternoon free to take a bite out of “The Big Apple.” There is so much to see and do. You might enjoy a stroll down Fifth Avenue, visit on of the many wonderful museums the city has to offer, or join your Tour Director, Barry Knight, for an optional tour to capture the view of Manhattan atop of the Rock (the nearby Rockefeller Center – admission extra). We have purposely left your afternoon free simply because Wednesday is a weekday that most Broadway theaters offer matinee performances. A few of the great productions now playing include: Aladdin, Beautiful, The Lion King, Carousel, Wicked, My Fair Lady,Frozen, Pretty Woman and many more.
Thursday, October 25th – One of your tour highlights today will be enjoying a relaxing Harbor Cruise where you’ll have spectacular views of the Manhattan Skyline and get a close up look at the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge. After the cruise we’ll experience the bright lights of 42nd Street and pass landmarks such as Bryant Park, New York City Public Library, Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building and the United Nations campus. Back at the hotel you’ll have time to freshen up before we hit the town for the evening where we will travel to Lincoln Center for an grand performance of Opera. Tonight The New York Metropolitan Opera is performing Puccini’s great work, “Tosca”.
Friday, October 26th – In a city that has so much to offer, we have kept your day free so that you can do as you desire. Perhaps a shopping spree is in order, lunch at Tavern on the Green, a view from the top of the Empire State Building, visit one of the city’s many great museums, or take a walk in Central Park (it is beautiful in October). You can also join your Tour Director on an optional tour of the United Nations Building (transportation and admission is additional). From Liberty Island we will take the ferry to Ellis Island where you’ll have time to explore this gateway of which over 12 million immigrants to the United States entered.
