Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Our flight will have us arriving in historic Boston, Massachusetts where we begin our journey through charming and vibrant New England. Accommodations at the Boston airport Hilton Hotel.
Day 2 – This morning we set out for Vermont, where tree-covered mountainsides dot a charming landscape of quaint villages with traditional white steepled churches. We will visit the Vermont Country Store to explore this unique family owned business that dates back to 1946. Then it is off to Killington where we will stay at the North Star Lodge for two nights. (breakfast and dinner included)
Day 3 – We will start our day by traveling the beautiful mountain side with our local guide. We will make a few stops along the way before our lunch stop at the Trapp Family Lodge, a mountain resort in European tradition by the family that inspired The Sound of Music. You will be amazed by the rolling Green Mountains, beautiful bucolic views, and the Austrian architecture. On our way back to our hotel we will pay a visit to the Joseph Smith birthplace memorial in Sharon, Vermont. (breakfast and lunch included)
Day 4 – After breakfast we will continue touring Vermont with our local guide. Our first stop will be a visit to the New England Maple Museum. Here we’ll learn about the history of maple sugaring, plus browse through their country store. We will have time to explore and have lunch in Woodstock, a quaint village that also features a covered bridge! Before leaving Vermont and entering the “Granite” state of New Hampshire we will visit Quechee Gorge, Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon. We will board the Lake Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad for a splendid roast turkey dinner. After our train ride, we will continue our way to the Silver Fox Inn for a two night stay. (breakfast and dinner included)
Day 5 – Our morning scenic drive will lead us to the Franconia Notch area as we drive through the White Mountains. We will pay a visit to the Rock Estates in Bethlehem followed by a talk about their Christmas Tree Farm and New Hampshire Land Preservation by the on-site naturalist. We will have time in picturesque Littleton for you to purchase lunch and browse in Chutters General Store. We will get to drive on a portion of the Kancamagus Highway, a tour that includes breathtaking views. Of course we will stop for some scenic fall-foliage photos! We also will have a nice group dinner before returning to our hotel for the evening. (breakfast and dinner included)

Day 6 – Today we are headed to Portsmouth in the New Hampshire sea coast region. We will have admission at Strawberry Banke. Here we will step over the threshold of history….into life in one of our country’s oldest waterfront neighborhoods. Strawberry Bande is a 10-acre living history museum that has preserved the lifestyles and traditions of four centuries of New Englanders. Here you can see 40 buildings – most on their original sites – spanning from the late 1600’s to the mid – 1950’s. From the storefronts of colonial merchants to the elegant Georgian-style mansion of Governor Goodwin, from the humble dwellings of early Jewish immigrants to the penny candy counter of the WWII-era Abbott Store, Strawberry Banke tells the stories of a neighborhood over time. We will make time for lunch in Portsmouth and then cross the border and visit Maine’s oldest town for a two hour tour through the town of York, featuring a historic neighborhood. York Harbor is dotted with lobster boats and seaside cottages and York Beach. We’ll stop for a photo at Maine’s southernmost lighthouse, the Nubble Light in Cape Neddick. From Nubble Light you will also spot the infamous Boon Island Lighthouse, located just off-shore. Our day tour will end with a stop at Stonewall Kitchen to see the manufacturing of Maine-made specialty condiments and receive a tasty little gift! We will arrive in Wells, Maine (which is between Kennebunkport and Ogunquit) for a two night stay at the Hampton Inn. Put on your souvenir lobster hat as we will travel to a local restaurant for a traditional lobsterbake dinner. Yum! (breakfast & dinner included)
Day 7 – We’ll depart the hotel this morning and head for beautiful Perkins Cover in Ogunquit, home of the famous Marginal Way shoreline walking path with spectacular ocean views. You’ll have some free time to explore Perkins Cove with its quaint shops and art galleries – or stroll along the Marginal Way. Next we’ll board a special lobster tour boat to learn how the Maine lobstermen make their living. This one hour, narrated cruise combines the scenic beauty of Ogunquit’s shoreline with a first-hand lobstering viewing. Midday we will enjoy some free time for shopping and lunch in the Dock Square area of Kennebunkport. There are many quaint boutiques and casual restaurants along the waterfront. After lunch, our local guide will provide a narrated tour of Kennebunkport and Kennebunk. We will drive past the sandy beaches and rocky coastline, past the George & Barbara Bush estate at Walker Point, and learn the history of these shipbuilding towns and the legend of the Wedding Cake House. You will also visit the Franciscan Monastery with its beautiful landscaping, outdoor shrines and chapel. After freshening up at the hotel, we will enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (breakfast and dinner included)
Day 8 – After breakfast we will travel back to Boston and report to the airport for our flight home with great memories of our New England vacation! (breakfast included)

Come join us on a great fall adventure!
